Japandi Wall Art

Japandi is what happens when Scandinavian restraint meets Japanese craft. Muted earth tones, natural forms, and a lot of deliberate empty space.

That last part is what separates it from ordinary minimalism, and it is where most art gets it wrong. A stark black and white geometric print is minimal but it is not Japandi, because it has no warmth in it. The Japandi version of restraint is soft, textural and slightly imperfect, which is why the pieces below are chosen for surface and tone rather than for colour.
